We are excited to share that Marv Wieman has been chosen as our Grand Marshal for this year's parade!

“Marv has lived most of is 80+ years in Crooks.

Marv was a Volunteer Crooks Fireman. He was a Charter Member of the Crooks Optimists that funded many of the amenities in Crooks Parks and youth activities. He was the force behind the development of New Hope Park. He volunteered may hours of labor and fund raising for ball field lights etc. As a member of the park board since it formed, he has been involved in the Palmira and Sunset Park beginnings. He coached youth ball teams for several years.

Marv's MAJOR CONTRIBUTION to this community is his 39-year tenure on the school board throughout the transition to consolidate Colton, Crooks, and Lyons schools into Tri-Valley. There were many differing opinions on the matter, but Marv was steadfast in his even temperament and brought it to consolidation. He was board Chairman when construction of the new school location began. His knowledge was invaluable in the financing of the building projects and future additions, some without bond issue.

Crooks voted to become an incorporated town in the 1980s and Marv served on that group of citizens that brought it about.

In 1988 the Crooks Development Corporation was formed. He served as Chairman until 2021. The corporation assisted with the start of the Community Daycare and more recently the Crooks successful Industrial Park development.

Marv and his late wife Elaine raised 4 children in Crooks, and he is a lifelong member of West Nidaros Church, where he has served on boards and committees.

Marv is a very quiet and humble man, but as long-time residents of the Crooks Community, we can think of few people who have contributed as much for as long, as he has.

For that reason, we nominate Marv Wieman as Grand Marshall.”

We received many fantastic nominations, so we'll be sure to keep them in mind for future events. Thank you to everyone who participated in the selection process!
